Johann Schrammel

Biography

A violin student of Melzer, Heissler and Hellmesberger -- the latter two at the Vienna Conservatory -- Schrammel was the founder and leader of the Schrammel Trio which included his brother Josef, violin, and the bass guitarist Anton Strohmayer. Before founding the trio, which later developed into the Quartet, Johann served with the Harmonie and Josefstadt Theatre as well as the military and in the salon orchestra of Margold.
