Carlo Tessarini

Biography

An Italian violinist of great report demonstrated by the tours and lengths of time he was away from his primary position in Urbino. Tessarini spent many years in Venice before becoming the violinist at Urbino. While on tour he gave concerts in Brno, Rome, possibly Paris and throughout the Netherlands. Tessarini also published music including some of his own works and works by other composers such as Canavas. Spending the last years of his life in Holland, 1761-1766(?) he was still able to outplay any one in their middle years as his reading sense was so keen. He composed a number of works for the violin including over twenty sonatas as well as concertos, and sinfonia. The compositions show the influence of Vivaldi which some would argue illustrates the fact that Tessarini studied with him; however, there is no other evidence to even suggest this. ~ Keith Johnson
