Le Cercle de l'Harmonie
Biography
The French period instrument ensemble Le Cercle de l'Harmonie focuses on music of the late 18th and 19th centuries, often recording Mozart and Beethoven, with a repertory running as far forward in time as Wagner. The group occupies a unique middle ground between orchestra and large freelance ensemble, with a core group of 40 players but a larger set of up to 100 musicians who may join for various projects. Le Cercle de l'Harmonie has collaborated on recordings with leading singers and instrumentalists, including soprano Diana Damrau. In 2025, the group issued a historically oriented recording of Beethoven's Missa Solemnis, Op. 123.
