Die Kategorie „Beste Oper“ gilt inoffiziell als das Nonplusultra bei den Grammys. 2018 durfte sich Hans Graf darüber freuen: Er dirigierte das Houston Symphony Orchestra vortrefflich durch den Dreiakter „Wozzeck“ und deutet Alban Bergs musikalisches Sozialdrama mithilfe von atonalen Disharmonien und übersteigerten Gefühlsdarstellungen um. Die Protagonisten – allen voran Roman Trekel und Anne Schwanewilms – transportieren in dieser Hommage gekonnt die ganze Tragik der literarischen Vorlage und hüllen sie in einen vorzüglichen Dialog aus Sopran und Bariton.
