Peter Davies

Biography

Peter Davies, along with Timothy Davies, was co-director of the Medieval Ensemble of London. This ensemble flourished in the late '70s and early '80s, taking over where pioneering figures such as David Munrow had left off. They made close to a dozen recordings for L'oiseau lyre. Some of their most notable recordings were of songs by Dufay and Ockeghem. In addition to his work directing the ensemble, Peter Davies performed on various instruments, including the flute, harp, recorder, and cornemuse.
