Biography

James Kallembach is equally noted as a composer and as conductor of the Motet Choir and the Rockefeller Chapel Choir at the University of Chicago. Kallembach's compositions began to gain wide attention as early as 1997 when one was premiered at the ALEA III International Composition Competition in Boston. His works are published by Corda Music in the U.K. Kallembach has composed several large choral works, including the cantata, Most Sacred Body, for soloists, chorus, and orchestra, which was recorded by the Boston University Marsh Chapel Collegium in 2018. A recording of his Antigone for female chorus and four cellos appeared in 2022 in a recording by the Lorelei Ensemble.
