Biography
Hiroaki Takenouchi is a pianist whose repertoire spans the core works of the piano literature alongside the rarely performed, with a particular focus on the music of Haydn, Beethoven, Chopin, and lesser-known British Romantic composers such as William Sterndale Bennett and Hubert Parry. His playing is defined by interpretive integrity and tonal sensitivity, and he has built a reputation as a committed advocate for neglected and contemporary repertoire. Active internationally since the early 2000s, he has performed across Europe, Japan, and South Africa, and he has assembled a discography that includes numerous world premiere recordings. In 2026, he and pianist Simon Callaghan released Bennett: Piano Concertos Nos. 4 & 6 with the Royal Northern Sinfonia under conductor Martin Yates.
