Biography
Tenor Stuart Burrows was known above all for Mozart opera, but his talents ranged from Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125, to Welsh songs. He boasted long careers at the Royal Opera House in London and the Metropolitan Opera in New York. At home in the United Kingdom, he was popular enough to be the headliner in a BBC television series, Stuart Burrows Sings. His substantial recording catalog included not only Mozartian opera but also works by Offenbach, Stravinsky, Boulez, and more. Burrows died in Cardiff, Wales, on June 29, 2025.
