Le Banquet Céleste

Le Banquet Céleste is a French period-instrument ensemble known for polished, expressive performances of Renaissance and Baroque repertoire. The group emphasizes vocal pieces and draws on a mix of canonical and overlooked composers, including J.S. Bach, Handel, Caldara, Stradella, and Erlebach. It has had a particular attraction to Bach's cantatas, exemplified by the fact that its earliest recording, from 2012, paired Bach's cantatas BWV 170 and 35. Among Le Banquet Céleste's celebrated releases are Stradella's San Giovanni Battista (2020), a Gramophone Editor's Choice and Presto Recordings of the Year finalist; an Erlebach Lieder album (2021); and Trinitatis: Bach Cantatas (2023), shortlisted for awards from Gramophone and ICMA. In 2026, the group released Bach: Mein Geist, featuring vocalists Alexander Chance and Thomas Hobbs.
