Clare Howick

Biography

British violinist Clare Howick has specialized in contemporary British repertoire, much of it by women. Howick has a large repertory of traditional concertos, which she has performed with the Philharmonia Orchestra, among others. She has appeared at major festivals in the U.K. and has been featured on both BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM. Many new works, including the Serenade for violin and orchestra of Paul Patterson, have been written specifically with her capabilities in mind. Howick's debut recording, Sonata Lirica and Other Works for Violin and Piano (2007), took up the cause of the neglected Cyril Scott, and she has continued to champion underexposed British music. ~ James Manheim
