Sergej Bolkhovets

Biography

Sergej Bolkhovets has succeeded in dual careers as a conductor and violinist. He is also a top orchestral musician, playing in the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and serving as guest concertmaster with orchestras across Europe. In 2003, Bolkhovets joined the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra and, in 2005, the prestigious Berlin Philharmonic. He has held guest concertmaster positions with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, among other groups. His repertory of violin concertos includes some 20 works. In 2014, Bolkhovets made his recording debut as a violinist on an electronica album, Loopified, by Dirty Loops. Bolkhovets served as Kapellmeister at Sweden's Gothenburg Opera from 2020 to 2022 and remained active there. In 2024, he made his recording debut as a conductor, leading the Münchener Kammerorchester on the album In Evening Light: Vasks, Schubert, backing violinist Sebastian Bohren.
