Heike Matthiesen

Guitarist Heike Matthiesen studied with Pepe Romero and regularly performed as a soloist and with chamber music groups on several continents. She was noted as a champion of music by women, both contemporary and from earlier historical eras. In 2001, Matthiesen released her debut album, Sol y Luna. Matthiesen operated the Archiv Frau und Musik, a collection of music by women, and curated its guitar section. She made several more recordings, including Guitar Divas, which appeared in 2023. Matthiesen died on December 22, 2023.
