In Echo
Biography
The British ensemble In Echo specializes in music of the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries, often performing unusual repertory in novel ways. The group also commissions contemporary music for historical instruments. In Echo was formed in 2016 by cornetto player Gawain Glenton. The group has a flexible membership and is thus able to perform a wide variety of repertoires. In Echo almost immediately gained attention for its debut album, Music in a Cold Climate: Sounds of Hansa Europe, which explored the music of the Hanseatic Empire. In 2023, In Echo released its sophomore album, Philips & Dering: Motets, on which it collaborated with the Choir of Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge.
