Biography
Nicholas Britell is a composer/pianist known for his work on the films New York, I Love You, 12 Years a Slave, Free State of Jones, and The King. ∙ He is a graduate of The Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division for musically gifted children, as well as a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Harvard University. ∙ His scores for Barry Jenkins’ Moonlight and If Beale Street Could Talk earned him nominations for two Academy Awards, a BAFTA Award, and a Golden Globe. ∙ He has worked with director Adam McKay on the films The Big Short and Vice, as well as the TV series Succession. ∙ The music for Succession earned him a 2019 Emmy Award (Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music) and a 2020 World Soundtrack Award (TV Composer of the Year). ∙ He produced Damien Chazelle’s short film Whiplash and served as coproducer of his Oscar-nominated feature film of the same name.
