Muriel Razavi

Biography

Muriel Razavi is a viola player based in Germany who specializes in Baroque performance practice and has a growing list of premieres of new works that feature her instrument. As a Baroque violist, she has worked with the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Il Pomo d'Oro, and Le Concert Olympique. Razavi has a special attraction to works and projects that merge Eastern and Western traditions, such as the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. In 2023, she became a viola professor at Mozarteum University in Salzburg and is also the founder of the Soundseed Festival in Leipzig. In 2026, she joined Kuss Quartet on their album of Mozart quintets and two contemporary works (2026).
