Biography

Despite its relative youth, the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada has become a major presence in Spanish musical life. The group has toured internationally and has appeared with top-caliber soloists. The Orquesta Ciudad de Granada has made various recordings, focusing on music from the Spanish-speaking world but not to the exclusion of other traditions. The orchestra's first music director was Misha Rachlevsky, who served from 1988 to 1990; since 2020, Lucas Macías has served in this role. The orchestra is supported by the city of Granada and the province of Andalucía. In 2025, the orchestra appeared with violinist Franziska Pietsch on the album Tides of Dance.
