Biography

Concert organist Christian Schmitt has established an international career through his work as a soloist, orchestral musician, and educator. A graduate of the Hochschule für Musik Saar, his early career was marked by 10 national and international competition prizes. Since 2014, he has served as the principal organist of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra. His regular performance schedule includes appearances at venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, and the Salzburg Festival. Schmitt appeared with the Bamberg Symphony under conductor Fabien Gabel in a newly realized arrangement by Zsigmond Szathmáry of César Franck's Grande Pièce Symphonique, Op. 17, in 2025.
