Büşra Kayıkçı
Biography
Büşra Kayıkçı's cascading piano melodies draw inspiration from the outside world, including her own background in artistic and practical mediums outside of music. Her compositional approach is paired with a style indebted to great neoclassical composers like Philip Glass and John Cage, with elements of microtonality and music from her homeland latticed around that framework. After earning notice with the independent releases Eskizler/Sketches (2019) and Bluets (2022), Kayıkçı signed to Parlophone/Warner Classics in 2023, making a mark first with a new EP revisiting material from Eskizler and then the full-length Places, which sonically connected her discipline of design with her command of piano. The 2025 EP Weaving took the concept even further, with pieces inspired by the symbolism and process of Anatolian carpet-making. Her latest project, 2026's Beyond Walls, blends acoustic piano with electronic overlays and the ambient sound of field recordings.
