John Glover is an American composer who emphasizes staged works that involve collaborative creative processes. His music is characterized by directness of expression without forgetting contemporary compositional techniques, favoring clear melodic writing to tell humanistic stories in an accessible way. He has served in directorship roles at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music and the Look and Listen Festival. Since 2019, Glover has served as Director of Artistic Planning at Kaufman Music Center in New York. His recordings include a live recording of his opera Lucy (2017), about the famous chimpanzee of that name, and contributions to soprano Sasha Cooke's how do I find you (2022) and pianist Adam Tendler's album Inheritances (2024) . Eat the Document, a chamber opera about political activism developed with librettist Kelley Rourke and musical director Mila Henry, came out in 2026.
