Metropole Orkest
Biography
The Netherlands' Metropole Orchestra (aka Metropole Orkest) is the world's oldest multi-genre orchestra, globally renowned for their eclectic jazz, pop, electronic, classical, world, and avant-garde projects. With a history stretching back to the 1940s, they have an extensive catalog, including their own albums and film soundtracks. In addition, they have collaborated with dozens of prominent artists, including Ella Fitzgerald, Tori Amos, Elvis Costello, Snarky Puppy, and prog metallers Within Temptation. Since Jules Buckley took over as conductor/music director in 2014, they have collaborated with international artists, delivering Laura Mvula with Metropole Orkest and Live in Holland with Asha Bhosle. They joined electronic composer Jameszoo for 2017's Melkweg, Raul Midon on 2019's If You Really Want, and Triptykon for their commissioned original work Requiem. More vocal collaborations arrived with 2022's Saudade, Colour of Love, featuring Maria Mendes, and 2026's With Every Breath I Take, featuring Cécile McLorin Salvant.
