Jochen Kupfer
Biography
The durable career of baritone Jochen Kupfer has focused on lied, especially in the recording arena, but also includes major choral works and operas from various periods. He is also an important educator. Kupfer's recordings of German lieder include not only works by Schumann and other famed composers, but also lesser-known figures such as Hans Sommer. In 2025, Kupfer was heard with conductor Masaaki Suzuki on a recording of Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem, Op. 45.
