Angela Morley
Biography
Highly respected conductor, arranger, and composer Wally Stott underwent a sex-change operation in the early 1970s, and subsequently became known professionally as Angela Morley. After cutting his teeth with the Oscar Rabin Band, Stott joined Philips Records in the mid 1950s. Over the next 20 years he arranged and conducted for some of the U.K.’s most popular artists, including Frankie Vaughan, Anne Shelton, and Shirley Bassey. Along with several of his own instrumental albums, Stott also composed the theme to HANCOCK’S HALF HOUR. In the late 1960s and early ‘70s, Stott wrote the music for several films, including THE LOOKING GLASS WAR and WHEN EIGHT BELLS TOLL; and as Morley, she wrote the Oscar nominated scores for THE LITTLE PRINCE and THE SLIPPER AND THE ROSE.
