Sarah Leonard

Soprano Sarah Leonard was a leading figure in the world of contemporary music, devoting her recordings almost exclusively to works of the 20th and 21st centuries. She was also a significant educator, and she gained public exposure by singing the theme to the British television series Silent Witness. Leonard's recordings appeared on boutique labels, including Somm and ECM. She remained active in the years before her early death, appearing in 2022 on an album of Messiaen works by the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra. Leonard died of brain cancer on October 31, 2024.
