Jadwiga Rappé

The recordings of contralto Jadwiga Rappé focused on the Slavonic world, but she performed music running from Bach to newly composed works as well. She was especially associated with the role of Erda in Wagner's Ring Cycle operas. Rappé was also an important educator. She had a long recording career and released an album of songs by Henryk Górecki in 2020. Rappé taught voice at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and the Academy of Music Gdánsk. She died in Warsaw on May 16, 2025.
