英国キングス・カレッジ・チャペルは、2020年にThe Festival of Nine Lessons and Carolsを90年ぶりに会衆なしで行ったが、それでも世界中で何百万人もの人々が視聴したといわれる。このアルバムはその時の音楽に別収録した4曲を加えたもので、新ディレクターのDaniel Hydeが手掛けた初のフルアルバムだ。多くの人に愛されてきたクリスマス・キャロルに新しい作品やアレンジを加えており、ケンブリッジ・キングス・カレッジ聖歌隊の特徴である伝統を継承しつつも、常に新鮮な歌声を披露していく姿勢が感じられる。喜びあふれるクリスマスの祭典だ。
