Talea Ensemble

Founded in 2008 and based in New York City, the Talea Ensemble is a chamber ensemble dedicated to the performance and promotion of contemporary music, from established works of the postwar avant-garde to newly commissioned pieces by emerging composers. Drawing on a roster of musicians trained in the classical tradition, the ensemble has built a distinctive identity through its willingness to cross artistic boundaries, partnering with theater, visual art, and film to create immersive concert experiences. A recipient of the Chamber Music America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming in 2013, the ensemble has brought more than 80 commissioned works to life since its founding, performing across the U.S. and at major international festivals in Europe and beyond. The Talea Ensemble is led by conductor James Baker.
