Biography
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. As a child I remember singing along to my mum's favourite music in the car (likely ABBA), making up harmonies with my twin sister. We would inevitably make up similar harmonies, then switch back to the melody at the same time! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Dame Emma Kirkby, Gothic Voices, Hildegard of Bingen: A Feather On the Breath of God Grigoryan Brothers, This Is Us: A Musical Reflection of Australia Various Artists, Advice to a Girl: Music by Anne Cawrse I love these three albums for their unpretentious brilliance and beauty. All of these composers and performers have influenced my own sound. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Dancing on Tiptoes” 'Dancing on Tiptoes' was commissioned in 2017 by the Hush Foundation as part of its ‘Collective Wisdom’ project, visiting teenagers in mental health wards of hospitals around Australia. I hope this track contributes to creating a kinder world. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? In October 2021, Boston Symphony Orchestra presented 'Concert for Our City' – the orchestra's first concert for a live audience since the COVID lockdowns. At that concert, one of my pieces was performed in the presence of the legendary John Williams! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Being a contemporary classical composer in Australia can feel isolating, but I'm so grateful for our local, supportive community. At one point I may have answered this question with 'more international premieres', but honestly, I'm pretty content.
