Amalie Stalheim

Biography

Cellist Amalie Stalheim has built her career across solo repertoire, chamber music, and contemporary works. After distinguishing herself on Scandinavian stages and later across Europe, she has developed a trajectory in which classical repertoire is juxtaposed with contemporary creations, often shaped through close artistic collaborations. Her path is marked by a constant movement between established traditions and contemporary writing, without a strict stylistic hierarchy. In 2023, Stalheim released the album Stravinsky, Poulenc & Debussy: Works for Cello and Piano, with pianist Christian Ihle Hadland. In 2024, she further deepened her commitment to contemporary creation with Knut Vaage: Relieff, Refleks, Rite, recorded with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra under the direction of Eivind Aadland. In 2025, she issued the album Britten: Suites for Solo Cello.
