Cellist Parry Karp is known as the longest-standing member of the Pro Arte Quartet, having joined the group in 1976. He is also noted as a solo player and an educator. During Karp's recording career as a soloist, he has specialized in little-known music for cello. With the Pro Arte Quartet, Karp has appeared in more than 1,000 concerts across the Americas, Europe, and Japan. He has also transcribed or arranged many works for the cello, including all of Beethoven's violin sonatas. Karp has remained active into senior citizenhood as a performer and recording artist. In 2025, he released a recording of Bloch's Schelomo and Suite for Viola and Orchestra, arranging the latter work for cello and orchestra.
