Biography
Fred Jacobs was a Dutch lutenist and theorbist whose career was primarily devoted to the music of the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. A highly regarded interpreter of early music, he divided his time between solo recitals, chamber music, and collaborations with singers and period-instrument specialists. His discography reflected a longstanding interest in the French, Italian, and English lute and theorbo traditions.
