Julian Lawrence Gargiulo

Nicknamed the "Pianist with the Hair," Julian Lawrence Gargiulo found a growing global audience as a soloist and chamber musician, notable for his on-stage humor and audience interaction. Beyond the piano, he founded the Getting to Carnegie international competition in 2015, which rotates through violin, voice, and cello annually. Finalists perform one of Gargiulo's compositions at the famed venue, and the winners have included soprano Emily Helenbrook (2017), violinist María Dueñas (2021), and cellist Johannes Gray (2022). In 2024, Gargiulo was heard on a recording of his Sonata No. 4 for violin and piano ("From the Window"), backing Dueñas.
