Biography

Victoria Bond is a composer and conductor whose distinctive creative voice emerges from her richly lyrical, post-tonal writing. Expertly absorbing lessons from past masters into her personal style, her pieces often employ extensive thematic development and touches from specific composers such as Bartók's lively ostinatos or Bergian intense lyricism. Her dramatic instinct is on display in multiple successful operas, which frequently center on great women of history, such as Mrs. President (2001) and Clara (2019). Bond's key recordings include Peculiar Plants for harpsichord (2011), Blue and Green for chamber ensembles (2022), and Dancing on Glass (2025), which consists of three chamber works. She has conducted the Chamber Opera of Chicago since 2008 and appeared as a conductor with top orchestral and chamber ensembles all over the world, including in China.
