Biography
John Kitchen is one of the most distinguished keyboard musicians and early music scholars in Scotland. In addition to his main instrument, organ, he performs on harpsichord and piano, and he has also pursued a long career as a conductor. Kitchen brings deep academic and practical knowledge to his recordings, which span from the French Baroque to the Romantic era. He serves as Edinburgh City Organist, University Organist at the University of Edinburgh, and Director of Music at Old Saint Paul's Episcopal Church. For 30 years, he conducted the Edinburgh University Singers, retiring in 2018. His most notable recordings include the complete organ works of Johann Ludwig Krebs on Priory Records (2010). In 2019, he issued a recording of light British music for the organ.
