Kateřina Kněžiková

Biography

Kateřina Kněžíková is a Czech soprano who is recognized internationally for a versatile voice that can reach crystalline, darker, and warmly romantic timbres with ease. A permanent member of the National Theatre Opera in Prague since 2006, she has expanded steadily from a foundation in Baroque and Classical repertoire into the major lyric roles of the Czech canon, such as Dvořák's Rusalka, Smetana's Libuše, and Janáček's Jenůfa. Kněžíková also maintains a busy recital schedule. Her recordings include the solo album Phidylé (2021), featuring orchestral songs by Martinů, Duparc, Ravel, and Szymanowski, which was named a Gramophone Editor's Choice and won the BBC Music Magazine Vocal Award for 2022. In 2026, she performed on the National Theater's recording of Smetana's The Two Widows, conducted by Robert Jindra.
