Barbara Kolb

Biography

Avant-garde composer Barbara Kolb was among the few female Americans whose work found acceptance in European contemporary music centers. She won various accolades in contemporary music, including the Rome Prize. Kolb was also an educator who taught at New York's Third Street Music School Settlement and at various universities as a visitor. Her works have been recorded by groups in the U.S. and elsewhere. Kolb died in North Providence, Rhode Island, on October 21, 2024.
