Christopher O'Riley

Biography

Pianist Christopher O'Riley is equally known for performances of standard classical repertory and of transcriptions of popular music, specifically that of the band Radiohead. O'Riley introduced Radiohead to many classical listeners as host of the U.S. National Public Radio program From the Top, where he aired performances of his own transcriptions without identifying the source material. O'Riley has a substantial catalog of recordings covering both standard repertory and his popular music transcriptions. He issued two albums of Radiohead transcriptions, True Love Waits (2003) and Hold Me to This (2005). O'Riley also recorded albums of material by Elliott Smith and Nick Drake. In 2024, he issued the album J.S. Bach: Well-Tempered Clavier, Book I, on the Navona Records label.
