Rheinland-Pfalz State Philharmonic Orchestra

Biography

The Rheinland-Pfalz Staatsphilharmonie, in full the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz ("German State Philharmonic Orchestra of Rhineland-Palatinate"), is a regional orchestra based in the city of Ludwigshafen and serving several states along Germany's Rhine River. Funded by the Rhineland-Palatinate state, the orchestra has a long history and has served as a training ground for several conductors who have gone on to international careers. The group's repertory is diverse, including film music, and it has a substantial recording catalog. That includes, from 2025, a recording of Austrian composer Karl Weigl's Symphony No. 3 in B flat major.
