Biography
Japan's Makoto Ozone is a globally renowned, award-winning jazz and classical pianist. His 1984 self-titled debut went Top Ten. After signing with Verve, he scored an international hit with the solo outing Breakout (1994). He recorded several albums with vibist Gary Burton including 1995's Face to Face. He founded the Japanese big band No Name Horses; their self-titled debut appeared in 2006. 2008's best-selling solo piano date, Falling in Love, Again, led to his first classical outing, Road to Chopin, in 2009. No Name Horses' best-seller Jungle appeared in 2011. In 2017, Ozone appeared as a soloist with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra in the recording of Jeunehomme - Mozart: Piano Concerto. In March 2021, Verve released the double-length Ozone 60 his first solo piano album in 13 years. In September, a 2019 live performance with Chick Corea was released as Resonance.
