William Vann

Biography

A recipient of many honors for vocal accompaniment, William Vann has performed and recorded as an accompanist to prominent singers and instrumentalists in Britain and beyond. He has a flourishing career as a conductor and is the founder and artistic director of the London English Song Festival. Vann serves as the music director at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, directing its Royal Hospital Chapel Choir. He made his recording debut in 2013 with Njabulo Madlala on Songs from Home and conducted the Royal Hospital Chapel Choir on Carols from Chelsea. Vann accompanied several singers on Albion's two volumes of Vaughan Williams' English folk song settings, the second of which appeared in 2021. On the Somm label, he led the Royal Hospital Chapel Choir on several Christmas albums and multiple collections of Elgar choral music, including the 2026 release Light out of Darkness.
