Katherine Needleman

Biography

Principal oboist of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Katherine Needleman is a leading American wind player. In 2005, Needleman joined the faculty of the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, where she remained until 2020. In 2003, she became the principal oboist of the Baltimore Symphony, continuing to hold that position as of the early 2020s. In 2016, Needleman made her recording debut, joining pianist Jennifer Lim on an album of duos for oboe and piano. In 2022, she became professor of oboe at the Curtis Institute. In 2023, Needleman performed the Oboe Concerto of Kevin Puts on a recording with the Baltimore Symphony, conducted by Marin Alsop.
