José Miguel Pérez-Sierra

Biography

José Miguel Pérez-Sierra has been one of Spain's most rapidly rising young conductors, with a specialty in opera and specifically in the works of Rossini. He also undertakes a wide variety of orchestral conducting jobs. Pérez-Sierra made his conducting debut with the Symphony Orchestra of Galicia in 2005. His operatic debut came the following year in a performance of Il viaggio a Reims at the Rossini Opera Festival in Italy. His recording debut was with the Euskadiko Orkestra Sinfonikoa in an album featuring two symphonies by Ángel Illarramendi. During the 2021-2022 season, Pérez-Sierra made both operatic appearances and symphonic ones. In 2022, Pérez-Sierra led a recording of Rossini's likewise rare one-act comic opera La scala di seta.
