Biography

With nearly 100 film scores to his credit, composer David Newman, one of a great family of Hollywood score writers, is one of American film's most significant musical figures. Newman's career began in the early '80s and was continuing uninterrupted into the mid-2020s. He is a versatile figure, with output ranging from scores to historical dramas to satires to children's films, including The Cat in the Hat (2003). Newman arranged the music for pianist Sebastian Knauer's 2024 release Hollywood and conducted the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin on that album.
