Daniel Gortler

Biography

Pianist Daniel Gortler is a major figure in concert life, not only in his home country but also in the U.S. and Europe. He has been active as an educator in both Israel and the U.S. Gortler scored a breakthrough when he replaced an ailing Murray Perahia in a San Francisco Symphony Orchestra concert conducted by Valery Gergiev. He made his recording debut in 1996 as an accompanist to flutist Yossi Arnheim on the recital Sounds of Love and Legend. Gortler's solo debut came in 2009 on the album Songs Without Words. Gortler issued the album Schumann: Piano Works in 2011 and returned on the 2024 album Grieg: Lyric Pieces.
