Michał Biel

Michał Biel is a Polish pianist who has built his career around chamber music and vocal collaboration, with a special interest in Polish art song. He maintains residencies as a collaborative pianist at the Juilliard School Vocal Arts Department and the Internationale Meistersinger Akademie in Neumarkt, and he has worked as a teacher at the Opera Academy of the Polish National Opera in Warsaw since 2020. Biel has a long-standing partnership with countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński, with whom he began exploring Polish songs as a fellow student at Juilliard. Together, they recorded Farewells (2022), a panorama of Polish art song spanning 150 years, and in 2026 they released If Music..., a program of Baroque vocal music centered on Purcell. Biel also recorded Kraina (2022) with soprano Alexandra Nowakowski, an album of rarely heard Polish art songs by Chopin, Paderewski, Szymanowski, and Moniuszko.
