Biography
Genesis's guitarist Steve Hackett was a guiding light during the band's '70s prog period--1971's Nursery Cryme -- 1977's Seconds Out. Voyage of the Acolyte, his debut solo effort appeared in 1975, preceding him leaving Genesis. He issued many acclaimed albums, including 1980's British Top Ten Defector and 1984's samba-inspired Til We Have Faces. In 1996 he began a series of live tributes to his former band as Genesis Revisited that continued in the 21st century. In 2006 he began recording and touring with Hungarian fusion band Djabe, issuing albums including 2011's In the Footsteps of Attila and Genghis, and 2024's When the Sound Turns Sweet. 2021's Under a Mediterranean Sky was an orchestral effort, while 2024's acclaimed The Circus and the Nightwhale offered prog rock. In 2026, Hackett and Marillion guitarist Steve Rothery teamed for Roaring Waves.
