Biography
Tenor Julien Dran has appeared in increasingly prominent roles around France and beyond since coming on the scene in the late 2000s decade. He has appeared on several recordings of lesser-known operas from several time periods. Dran's recording debut came in 2011 on Charpentier: Music for the Prix de Rome, featuring music by Gustave Charpentier. Dran's repertory focuses on 19th century Italian and French works but extends forward as far as Leoš Janáček's Kátia Kabanová. , in which he performed the role of Kudrias at the Avignon Opera. Dran appeared on several more opera recordings, including one of Les Horaces with the ensemble Les Talens Lyriques and its director, Christophe Rousset, in 2018. His debut as a featured artist came in 2024 in the world premiere recording of Saint-Saëns' final opera, Déjanire.
