Bergen Philharmonic Chorus

Biography

Norway's Bergen Philharmonic Chorus has a history dating back to the late 18th century. It has flourished in the early 21st century as the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, with which it is closely associated, gained international prominence. This association has often brought the Bergen Philharmonic Chorus into the recording studio for both orchestral music and opera. The group's 2020 recording of Britten's opera Peter Grimes won the Recording of the Year award from Gramophone magazine. By 2025, when the Bergen Philharmonic Chorus was heard on the Bergen Philharmonic recording of Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem, Op. 45, the group's catalog consisted of at least 15 items.
