Ransom Wilson

Biography

Ransom Wilson is an American flautist and conductor who established his reputation in the 1980s interpreting music of so-called 'minimalist' composers. Steve Reich's Vermont Counterpoint was written for him. In time, Wilson turned more toward conducting as an avocation, and is frequently seen as the maestro at Lincoln Center. He has recorded both on the flute and with the 'stick' for EMI and Delos.
