Thomas Kemp

Biography

Conductor Thomas Kemp has a strong commitment to new music and is also an exponent of late 19th and early 20th century works. He was trained as a violinist and is also active in that field, and he is a significant educator. Kemp has founded a concert series and an ensemble that relates contemporary music to historical contexts. Kemp founded the Chamber Domaine ensemble and made his classical album debut with that group on a 2004 recording of works by Arvo Pärt with the Choir of St. Mary's Cathedral. He has made various recordings, including two devoted to composer Brian Elias, Music for Strings and Music for Wind, issued by the Signum Classics label in 2024.
