Biography
Rosemarie Lang is a well-known German dramatic soprano. She was born in Erzgebirge, studied singing at the Leipzig Musikhochschule, and won a first prize at an international singing competition while still a student. She joined the opera companies of Altenburg and Leipzig. She sings the Strauss roles of Octavian (Rosenkavalier) and the Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos), Gluck's Clytemnestra, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Verdi's Azucena, and the Wagnerian roles of Brangäne, Venus, Fricka, and Waltraute, as well as the Countess Geschwitz in Berg's Lulu. She is also active as a recording, recital, and concert artist, and has sung in Bach oratorios.
